Can you believe August is already wrapping up? It feels like summer just flew by, doesn't it? As we say goodbye to beach days and hello to leaf piles, I wanted to catch up with you about what's been going on.
So, I did something a bit crazy this month - I went on a no-spend challenge! Yeah, you heard that right. Even as a professional organizer, I found myself drowning in stuff and feeling like our space was getting a bit too cluttered. Funny how that happens, right? This whole experience got me thinking about underconsumption, which is actually the topic of our latest blog post. I know, I know, it sounds a bit fancy, but it's really just about buying less stuff. And let me tell you, it's been eye-opening!
Here's the thing - clutter is totally normal. We all deal with it, and there's zero shame in that. But when it starts messing with your productivity or making it hard to find your favorite mug in the morning, that's when it's time to hit the reset button. For me, that reset came in the form of this no-spend month. It's been a great way to take a step back, reassess what we really need, and get a handle on our finances. Plus, it's given me a chance to get creative with what we already have. You'd be amazed at how many "organizing solutions" are already hiding in your home! Now, I'm not saying you need to go full minimalist or anything ( I sure am not; I love options!). But if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by stuff, maybe give it a try? Start small - even just a week of not buying non-essentials can be super revealing.
Oh, and before I forget - next month, we're going to chat about getting ready for the new season. I'll share some thoughts on whether you really need to buy those fancy organizing products or if you can make do with what you've got. Spoiler alert: you probably already have most of what you need!
Lastly, I don't know about you, but I'm pretty pumped for this long weekend coming up. I've got big plans to cross off the last few things on my summer bucket list (hello, hot dog at the ballpark!) and maybe do a bit of planning for the month ahead. It's the perfect chance to recharge before we dive into fall.
