Hey, Subscriber First Name!

It's officially fall, which means we're in the busiest time of the year. Before you get overwhelmed, I want to talk about how we prepare for those busy times.

Storytime!

Before I started Savvy Sloth Strategies, I was a marketing manager. I led marketing teams and worked with every department in my organization, which made me a super important person (not by choice). I had to attend every meeting, join all the calls, weigh in on every email, and get all projects started.

It was a lot!

Even when I delegated tasks, they still somehow ended up on my plate. I'd leave work and come home to even more questions, decisions, and to-dos. I eventually snapped, and that's when I started therapy. That's the TL;DR version of my burnout story.

It was no fun being the most important person in the room. I missed just being a team member. I had to think through how I got into that situation and how to escape it. Part of it was that I was TERRIBLE at setting boundaries, and the other part was that I never communicated what I did or how I did it. I thought that if I shared that, I'd be less valuable or that I'd be replaced. Again, a super toxic part of my life, haha ( we laugh to keep from crying over here).

The only time I ever shared my roles and responsibilities was when I was leaving a job. I'd write out documentation and all the steps, and I later found out that my job should have been a team of 5. If I had documented things earlier or created redundancy, I probably would have enjoyed what I did more and actually got to enjoy my life. This story and what I help my clients with today inspired our latest blog.

Getting comfortable with teaching folks how to fish is the easiest way to save yourself from burnout and doing things you don't want to do all the time. It also takes so much pressure off of you. You can apply the concept of redundancy to life at home, too! You don’t need to be the only one grocery shopping, making appointments, or cooking meals!
